Hugh Glen Neas, age 92, of Sable Road, Parrottsville, passed away Monday evening, October 11, 2004, at Durham-Hensley Nursing Home.
Mr. Neas, affectionately known as “Jim” by his many friends and family, was a lifelong farmer who loved to work the land. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Charles W. Smith, of Parrottsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Neas, of Parrottsville, and Ronald and Mitzi Neas, of Greeneville; three grandchildren, Jamie Horne, of Oneida; Jeffrey Neas, of Parrottsville; and Kevin Neas, of Parrottsville; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Horne and JeremyHorne, both of Oneida, and Corbin Neas and Emma Neas, both of Parrottsville.
Mr. Neas was the son of the late Augusta Herman and Cora Ottinger Neas.
Mr. Neas was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Stephenson Neas, and two grandsons, Brandon Neas, who passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2004, and Jody Neas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery with Pastor Kathleen Yates and Pastor Bill Benedict officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Neas, Robert Ottinger, Horace Davis, Donald Lowery, and Marcus Neas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Neas, Larue Neas, Trent Ottinger, Lowell Tate, Johnny Tweed, the staff and caregivers of Durham-Hensley Nursing Home and the staff and caregivers of Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 3001 Salem Road, Parrottsville, TN 37843.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Rose Hill Funeral Home, Greeneville.
