Fred A. Etherton, age 79, of Newport, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2002, after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Etherton; parents, Ernest and Jettie Etherton; and brothers, John and James (Snow Ball) Etherton.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Tommy Strange of Newport, Pat and Roy (Doodle) Reed of Parrottsville, and Jane and Paul Lukovics of Morristown; sisters, Blanche Hurley and Wanda Mae Turner of Parrottsville; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Marie Etherton of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2002, at the Manes Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gene Hollifield and Rev. Fred Gregg officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Salem Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
