Billie J. Smith, age 68 passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She attended and was secretary of New Life Baptist Church , where her husband, Tommy, serves as pastor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Beulah Gibbs; brother, Michael Gibbs. She is survived by her husband James Tommy Smith of Newport; sons, Norman and Robin Smith of Bybee, Michael D. Smith of the home; daughter, Tammy and Dana Blazer of Parrottsville; sisters, Kay and Jimmy Black of DelRio, Frances and Charlie Holt of Newport; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jared Blazer, AriAnne Smith, Brittany, Haley and Hannah Smith; She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Friday, February 27, 2009 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Franklin Wines, and Bertie Hensley officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will be 10 am Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Smith Cemetery at the New Life Baptist Church on Baysinger Rd.
