Webbs celebrate 60th anniversary John Byrd and Elizabeth (Tipton) Webb, of Townsend, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today. The couple were married July 2, 1948, at Tuckaleechee Chapel, Townsend. The Rev. F.M. Goss officiated. Their family includes children Gary Webb and wife Tiffany Johnson Webb, of Seymour, John B. (Johnny) Webb Jr. and wife Nancy Webb, of Townsend, and Wayne Webb and wife Catherine Webb, of St. Helena Island, S.C. They have five grandchildren, Whitney, Michael, Katie, Alex and Grant Webb. Mr. Webb is retired from CIGNA Insurance Company and is a former commissioner and mayor of Townsend. Mrs. Webb is a former home economics teacher at Townsend and Alcoa. After career obligations took the couple to Chicago, Nashville and Maryville, they returned permanently to their hometown of Townsend in 1970. They are members of Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church.
