PARROTTSVILLE-In 1938, as the world slowly moved to the end of the Great Depression and drew nearer the outbreak of World War II, Mary Aileen Nease prepared for her graduation from Parrottsville High School.
The daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Nease and the late Ivis Nease, Aileen was one of the couple's three daughters. As she contemplated her future, she soon found herself dealing with the unwanted attentions of a young Parrottsville man, a brother of her friend Irene Barger.
"At first I didn't want anything to do with him," laughed Aileen last Sunday, as she waited for other members of her family to arrive for a dinner party. "But then I came to realize he is the finest person God ever made."
