Notes:

Evan was probably born in Frederick County, Virginia where he lived until he
migrated to Pendleton District, South Carolina in the 1780's.

Evan Thomas made an entry for 382 acres of land on 23-Mile Creek in Pendleton
County. This was granted by the State of South Carolina on Monday, 3 July
1786.

He sold one half of 382 acres on 230Mile Creek in Pendleton County, South
Carolina to Samuel Robertson for --- on Thursday, 26 March 1789. His wife
Elizabeth Hubbard relinquished her right of dower in this tract of land.

Evan Thomas sold the other half of the 382 acres on 23-Mile Creek in Pendleton
County to William Kerby on 60 on Monday 20 July 1789. Again, his wife
Elizabeth Hubbard relinquished her right of dower in this tract of land.

Evan Thomas and his wife Elizabeth Hubbard were listed in the 1790 Federal
Census of Pendleton County, 96th District, Sounth Carolina. There was one
white male aged 16 years and upwards; one white male age 16 years and under;
and three females of all ages in the household.

Family traditions say "he died July 1795" in the 23-Mile Creek area of
Pendleton County. Samuel Robertson and William Hamilton were appointed as
administrators of the estate. Evan Thomas' estate was appraised on Monday, 9
January 1797 by Alexander Ramsey, David Dunlap and John Adair. These
appraisors were appointed by the probate judge or Pendleton County, South
Carolina.

The public sale for the estate of Evan Thomas was held on Tuesday, 4 April
1797. Among the purhasers for this sale were Samuel Taylor, Robert Miller,
Samuel Robertson, William Hamilton, John Thomas, Mary Dagly, Joseph Reed,
Ambrose Foster, David Dunlap, William Bates, Nicholas Bishop and John Knox.
