Shields is a small station on the Ohio & Mississippi Railroad, four miles above Ewing, and at a place where a splendid county bridge spans White River, thus making it easily accessible to the farmers living in the southern part of Hamilton, Township. The town was laid out by L. L. and William H. Shields April 29, 1866.
Served in Indiana house in 1889.
