| 1. | Daniel Shields was born Ireland. Notes:
Daniel Shields reconverted to the Catholic faith and remained in Ireland as did
his descendants for two generations. A descendant, James Shields, was born at
Dungannon, Ireland in 1810, died 1 June 1879 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a
General and U. S. Senator from Illinois and also Minnesota.
