Notes: Samuel and Elizabeth Clabaugh lived the remaining years of their lives on Middle Creek in Sevier County, Tennessee. In the 1830 Tennessee census eight children were living with them. One male age 5-10 and on e male age 15-20. Two females under 5, one female age 10-15, one female age 15-20, and two females ages 20-30. Also living near was a John Clabough, age 20-30 and Cumberland Clabough. Living in the house with Cumberland and his family is a man between the age of 70-80. In 1840 six of their children were still living with them. In Samuel Clabaugh's will, referenced in later deeds, he left an undivided interest in 109 acres to his heirs: John, Charles, and Richard H. Clabaugh. Samuel married Elizabeth Abt 1815, Frederick County, Maryland. Elizabeth was born 1785, Frederick County, Maryland; died Abt 1855, Middle Creek, Sevier County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet]

19. | John Clabaugh, III (16.John3, 4.John2, 1.Mary1) was born 1777, Frederick County, Maryland; died Bef 1855. Notes: On October 8, 1813, John Clabaugh enlisted in Captain John Roper's Company of Colonel William Lillard's 2nd Regiment of East Tennessee Volunteers for three months' duty. "He would be gone for four months. With his Company, he headed southwest into Mississippi Territory under the command of Andrew Jackson. They defeated the Creek Indians in the famous battles of Talladega and Horse Shoe Bend. On February 8, 1814, John was discharged at Knoxville, Tennessee and returned home. About 1816, John and Elizabeth packed up their belongings and with their six children set out with Elizabeth's father and his large family and probably others." They moved into Alabama Territory and settled on Six Mile Creek in what is now Bibb County. John married Elizabeth Haggard 1801, , Sevier County, Tennessee. Elizabeth (daughter of Henry Haggard, Rev.) was buried 1860. [Group Sheet]

20. | William Clabaugh (16.John3, 4.John2, 1.Mary1) was born 1782, Frederick County, Maryland; died 1856/1860, Middle Creek, Sevier County, Tennessee; was buried Middle Creek Methodist Church Cemetery, Sevier County, Tennessee. Notes: From the Records of Commissions of Officers in Tennessee Militia 1796-1815, compiled by Mrs. John Trotwood Moore, we find that William Clabough was appointed as an Ensign, Light Infantry Company of the 11th Regiment for Sevier County, Tennessee on July 8, 1808. Later, in his early thirties, as he claimed in 1852 he served in the Creek Indian War in Alexander Hill's Company, Colonel William Carrol's Regiment, Tennessee Drafted Militia. He was drafted in McMinnville, Tennessee, in October 1813 for six months duty. He was discharged at Nashville, Tennessee in June 1814. He applied for a Bounty Land Warrant on two different dates: March 30, 1852, and September 6, 1855 with the United States Government on his war of 1812 military services. It was rejected because of insufficient information. William married Lavina King 1815, Sevierville, Sevier County, Tennessee. Lavina (daughter of Nathaniel King and Elizabeth Runyan) was born 1798, South Carolina; died 1870/1880, Sevier County, Tennessee; was buried Middle Creek Methodist Church Cemetery, Sevier County, Tennessee.
