John Noe

Notes:

Location of birth not confirmed. John Noe was naturalized in September 1769.
The earliest land transaction involving John Noe of which there is a record,
took place in 1764. In Book 2, page 576 of Orange County, North Carolina deeds,
is recorded 116 acres bought from Henry Eustace McCulloch of Stinking Quarter
Creek on 20 April 1764, recorded in April Court, 1768. In this year, John Noe
also received a land grant from North Carolina on the south side of the Haw
River. Other entries in official Orange county records regarding John are:

May 1770 John sold to Jacob Graves half of his grist mill on land "which Peter
Noe purchased of Henry McCulloch;",

May 1777 John Noe was appointed constable for St. Asaph's district,

August 1777 John Noe was appointed tax collector for St. Asaph's district,

May 1777 John Noe again appointed tax collector,

and October 1799 John Noe bought from "the University" a 100 acre tract on
Stinking Quarter Creek, recorded November term 1801.
