1. | Sarah Margaret Fuller was born 23 May 1810, Cambridge, Massachusetts; died 19 Jul 1850. Notes:
At the age of eight years Sarah Fuller wrote Latin verse, while her favorite
studies were Philosophy, History and Aesthetics. At ten years she read Tasse
and Ariosto in the original, and a little later made herself familiar with
German writers. At the invitation of Horace Greeley, she contributed to the
"Tribune" as series of articles on Literature and Art which were afterward
collected and published in London, England.
In Rome she met Giovannie [John] Angelo, Marquis D'Ossoli an Italian nobleman,
an exile from his country by the failure of the Roman republic, to whom she was
married in 1847. In 1850, on her way home, when in sight of New York, a
hurricane struck the ship and with her husband and new born infant, she perished
in the waves.
