  1. 6.  Archibald Sloan was born 15 Apr 1796, , Blount County, Tennessee (son of William Sloan and Margaret McTeer); died 13 Apr 1868; was buried , Monroe, Tennessee.

    Notes:

    Buried in Tellico Baptist Church Cemetery.

    The will of Archibald Sloan of Monroe County, Tennessee, "having for some years
    past been afflicted", written 27 January 1858, probated in May 1868, bequeathed
    to wife Susan, the dwelling house and furnishings, a horse, a mare and the
    proceeds of the plantation for her natural life; to three sons Madison J. C.
    Sloan, George W. Sloan and William H. Sloan, all other real estate, viz. "the
    old home tract", a tract bought from Jesse Bright, and 80 acres entered as
    timber land; George and William to have one-half the blacksmith tools since
    Madison already has the other half; the sons to pay their sisters from the
    proceeds of the plantation, Madison to pay $75 to Sallee Peeler, George to pay
    $75 to Elizabeth Smalling and William to pay $75 to Susan Sloan; so that these
    daughters have the same as their older sisters Polly Ann Mason and Matilda
    Clift, who are no longer living; the sons are to pay $2.00 each to "my
    grandchildre:, children of these deceased daughters, namely, Sloan Mason, Polly
    Ann Clift and Monroe Clift; the plantation to go to the sons after their
    mother's death. Executors: the three sons and Archibald Mason. Witnesses:
    John M. Best, Jason McMullen.

  1. 12.  William Sloan (son of Archibald Sloan); died 1833, Blount County, Tennessee.

    Notes:

    Probable son of Archibald Sloan.

    On 14 August 1805 John Sloan, Alexander Sloan, William Sloan, James Boyed,
    Andrew Jackson, David Brown, Carolinus Sloan, Robert Sloan, James Sloan and
    David Sloan, all of Blount County, as "Legatees of the Estate of Archibald
    Sloan", disposed of property in Blount County, Tennessee, including a 200 acre
    tract of Nine Mile Creek granted to Archibald by the State of North Carolina.

    William lived and died on Six Mile Creek and was a member of Baker's Creek
    Church.

    The will of William Slone, written 12 August 1832, probated 24 June 1833,
    directed that his "parishable property" be sold, but his dwelling to remain in
    the possession of his wife her lifetime. Since "it hath pleased God to lay his
    chastning hand on my daughter Sally ... should it be her fortune to remain in
    this helpless condition," she to have the "support of the tract of land I now
    live on"; if restored to health, sons Alexander and Robert to pay her $75 in
    trade, including a horse and bridle. On the death of the widow the land to be
    divided between Alexander and Robert; in case of "any difficulty with the
    boundary where my daughter Nancy now lives ... my son Archy is to mark the
    line." Archebald is to have all interest and right in my survey in the Western
    District; he to pay his mother $80 one year after the testator's death. All
    other property at the death of the widow to be divided between three daughters,
    Nancy Campbell, Peggy Campbell and Sally Slone. Executors: Archabald and
    Robert Slone. Witnesses: Alexander Cook, William McTeer. On 24 June 1833
    Arch Sloan was appointed Executor of the Estate of William Sloan deceased; bond
    was for $1000 with Robert Sloan and William McTeer as sureties.
