    Josiah Maples, strongly believed to be a son of William and Prudence Maples went with his parents from Pittsylvania County, Virginia to Pendleton District, South Carolina prior to 1790. There he lived with his parents and moved with them to Grainger County, Tennessee prior to 1804.

    Josiah Maples and his wife Mary Ann Dyer were listed in the 1810 Federal Census of Grainger County, Tennessee. Also they were listed in the 1830 Federal Census of Grainger County, Tennessee.
