  1. 8.  Samuel P. Watson was born 1832, North Carolina (son of John Watson and Susannah "Susie" Conner); died 14 May 1875; was buried P. A. Proffitt Cemetery, Sevier County, Tennessee.

    Notes:

    In the Civil War pension files of Samuel P. Watson, there is an affidavit filed by Henry Ogle for Martha Ogle Watson, widow of Samuel P. Watson as the proof of the marriage between them. Henry Ogle said, "...I was present and saw Samuel P. Watson and Patsy Ogle maried at the house of William Ogle by Rev. Richard Evans on or about the year 1850 I have lived in the same neighborhood that Samuel P. Watson and Patsy Watson lived in and know that they lived together as man and wife..."

    Samuel P. Watson served with the Union army during the Civil War. He enlisted on 4 December 1863 at Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky as a private in Company G, 2nd Regiment of Tennessee Mounted Infantry for one year duty, and was discharged on 28 December 1864 at Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee.

    Samuel P. Watson left a will dated 4 April 1875. He mentioned his wife, four sons and three daughters.

    "I Samuel P. Watson do hereby make my Last will and testament and hereby set aside all former wills made by me at any other time

    "1st I order that all my just debts and funeral expences be paid out of any money that I may have on hand at my decease and if not enough on hand to be paid out of the first that comes to hand afterwards

    "2nd I gave and bequeath my lower farm to my 2 youngest sons to wit Elijah W. Watson and Samuel R. C. Watson with the exception of the Dwelling house and five a acres field around the house I gave to my wife Marthy Watson the Dwelling house and field specified to be Marthy Watson during her widowhood if she marries then the house and field to belong to the aforesaid two youngest sons

    "My upper farm I gave and bequeath to my two oldest sons to wit William Watson and Robert S. Watson to be equally divided between them

    "4th I order that my cow be not sold but except with my two youngest children for their better raising

    "5th I gave one white bull calf to my son Elijah

    "6th I will my two daughters to wit Jane Watson and Nancy C. Watson a good cow a piece to come out of my estate which Ieave in hands of William and Robert S. Watson
