Notes:
Joseph Carter was born in Walkerville Township. He was listed with his parents
in the 1830 and 1840 Federal Census of Greene County, Illinois.
He enlisted as a private in "Company D, 2nd Illinois Infantry" for the duration
of Mexican War. He died from yellow fever.
