John Benton Burgin age 75 of Newport went to be with his Lord Thursday evening April 13, 2006 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville. Mr. Burgin was a Baptist and retired from Bushes where he worked as a machinist. He served his country in the United States Army. John was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Josie (Lamb) Burgin; one grandson, David Thomas; two brothers, Leonard Burgin and Hugh Burgin; three sisters also preceded him in death, Velma Kelley, Francis Morrow and Audrey Evans. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faye (Holt) Burgin of the home; six children, Ronnie and wife Carol Burgin of Dandridge, Doris Thomas of Bybee, Vicki and husband Sammy McMahan of Newport, Mike and wife Rhonda Burgin of Newport, Sammy and wife Debbie Burgin also of Newport and Brad and wife Pam Burgin of Strawberry Plains; one sister, Clara Crisp of Detroit; one brother, Keith and wife Faye Burgin of Del Rio; eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends survive Mr. Burgin. The family will receive friends Saturday April 15, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 8 o’clock with Rev. Ernest Sawyer officiating. Graveside service will be conducted Sunday April 16, 2006 at 11 o’clock in Mulberry Gap Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. John Benton Burgin.
