He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Brunswick, Georgia. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Jo Gilstrap Valentine, who passed away September 3, 2003; father and mother, Baxter H. and Dovie R. Valentine; sister, Gertrude Lett; brother, Glenn E. Valentine; and nieces, Sue Burdine and Sandy Lett. Survivors are: brother, Greer E. Valentine, of Oak Ridge; sisters, Gona Edgmon and Geneva Proffitt, of Niota, and Deanie Williamson, of Cosby; several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Donna Mowery. Graveside services were held Saturday, November 1, 2003, at Niota Cemetery, Niota, Tennessee. Rev. Bob Kelly conducted the service. Chapman’s Funeral Home, Brunswick, Georgia, was in charge.
