VALENTINE, ALVIN - 83, of Cosby went to be with his Lord Wednesday evening November 22, 2006 following a lengthy illness. Alvin was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Navy. Attended Rocky Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Emerson Electric. Before his illness Alvin liked to garden and always shared his crop with family and friends. He liked to make everyone laugh with his funny sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sallie (Ball) Valentine, 3 brothers, Carr, Lester and Warren Valentine. 2 sisters also preceded, Leona Valentine and Callie Mae Valentine. 3 brothers-in-law, Leroy, Harold, and Steward (Smiley) Shults, 1 sister-in-law Barbara Shults. Surviving Alvin, his loving wife of 53 years; 2 sisters Velma Lunsford of Cosby and Ola Epting of Kennedy, FL; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Artie and Faye Valentine of Sparks, NV; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law David and Dean (Stinnett) Shults, Sherrell and June (Hartsell) Shults and Wilbur Shults; 4 sisters-in-law also survive, Ruth, Patricia, Nancy and Lillie Shults; Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and special friends, Bud Ledford and Johnny Parks and Jack Rice, Clifford Ball, Chris Layman, Victor Shults. The family will receive friends Saturday November 25, 2006 at Brown Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Service will follow at 8 o'clock with Rev. Clifford Ball officiating. Graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 11 o'clock November 26, 2006 at Union Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers, Randy, Mark, Lenn and Victor Shults, Gene Lunsford, Tim Strange, Mike Hannon and John Johnson. Brown Funeral Home, Newport, has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Alvin Valentine.
