Whaley, Ruby B. –age 93, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at NHC-St. Mary’s. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Hugh P. Whaley; parents, James A. and Catherine Caldonia Whaley; several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving family and friends.
Survivors
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Joyce Whaley, Jim and Linda Whaley, Wayne and Pearl Whaley; daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Ralph Fleming; grandchildren, Beverly Johnson, Sylvia Whaley, Cindy Cornelius, Stanley Fleming, Tania Hancock, Brad Whaley, Renee Lee, Tammy Troutman, Lisa Crow, and Clay England; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Buford Whaley; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Continuum Courtyard #2, the staff of NHC-St. Mary’s and Caris Healthcare Hospice.
Service
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday at Meridian Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 8 PM, Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at Highland South Cemetery on Wednesday for 2 PM graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meridian Baptist Church, 6513 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920 or to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Avenue South, New York, New York 10016.
