DENTON, ERNESTINE "ERNIE" - age 83, of Piedmont Road, New Market, passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2000, at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Mr. Denton was a prominent retired farmer in Jefferson County and was also a retired employee of the ALCOA Aluminum Company after many years of service. He was a member and deacon of Piedmont Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his son, David Denton.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen White Denton of the home; son and daughter in law, Harold and Brenda Denton of Knoxville; daughter in law, and husband, Ruth and Babe Hart of Dandridge; five grandchildren, Rick Denton, Kristi and Jeff Coffey, Lorri and Lendon Miller, Kendra and Jeff Kirk, and Justin and Ali Denton; seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday evening. October 26, 2000 from the Piedmont Baptist Church with Dr. James Kinser, Reverend Clyde Tilley, Reverend Lennie Miller, and Dr. Brian Autsin officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10;45 a.m. Friday morning, October 27, 2000, at Hillcrest Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piedmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 1226 Dumplin Valley Road, Dandridge, Tenn. 37725.
