Services for John A. "Dick" Chandler Jr., 86, Stratford, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Stratford First Baptist Church, the Rev. Bill Rea officiating. Burial follows at Oaklawn Cemetery, Wynnewood. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Chandler died Sept. 4, 2006, at a Sulphur veterans center. He was born Aug. 10, 1920, at Wynnewood, to John Ahas and Vestia Smith Chandler. He attended school at Wynnewood.
He married Margret Watson Nov. 3, 1950, at Van Buren, Ark. She died Jan. 17, 1992. He later married Jo Ann Endinger Wood Aug. 5, 1996, at Miami, Okla. Mr. Chandler was a truck driver for Eldridge Propane, Stratford, until his retirement. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, receiving a Silver Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dorothy Marie Nalley; and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Chandler, of the home; two sons, Johnny Ray Chandler, Stratford, and Sammy Lee Chandler, Sacramento, Calif.; two grandsons, Scott Chandler and Shawn Chandler; a granddaughter, Nyree Graham, Oklahoma City; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Alice Towler, Bristow, Lennie Mattingly, Howe, and Marie Towler, Wynnewood; and numerous cousins and other family and friends.
