Willie Lee Davidson , Sr. , was born on September 9 , 1940 in Clay County , Mississippi and departed this life on May 15, 2005 after a lengthy illness. He was affectionately known as 'Big Willie ' and had made Newport his home after moving here in the early 1960's. He was a construction worker throughout Mississippi and Tennessee. He will always be remembered for his friendliness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone he could. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kay in January, 2004; parents, Luster and Cedell Davidson ; brother, John Ed Davidson ; sisters, Pearlie and Finchie Davidson . He will be sadly missed by his children, Tom Davidson , and Kim Davidson of Newport, Willie Davidson , Jr. (Paula), Middlesboro, KY, Bonita Gilchrist of Nashville, Melanie Stewart, of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Geannie Davidson , St. Louis, MO; Eula White (Juliet) of Houston, Mississippi, Vinnie Clark (Thomas) of West Point, Mississippi; grandchildren, Chyna Tyreek, Austin, Rashad, Barbara, Terrence, Daryl 'DJ', Candace, Kayla, Jasmine, James, Javaris, Tregg, and Neja, mother- in -law, Kathleen Swagerty, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, Dorsey Fine and Ralph Kyker, and many other friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday May 20, 2005 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bill Davis officiating, with burial in Gum Springs Union Cemetery.
