U.S. Veteran Lloyd Edward Watts, age 86, passed away peacefully September 11th in Hendersonville, NC after several years of declining health. He was surrounded by family at the time. He was a long time member of Dutch Bottoms Baptist Church, and many in the community knew him from the years he helped many others working for the Cocke County Ambulance Service. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was active for many years in the American Legion post in Newport. Lloyd is survived by his son, Russell Watts and Russell’s wife Nicole in Hendersonville, former wife Mary Lou Watts, brother J.C. Watts and his wife Louise, sister-in-law Nancy Johnson, sister-in-law June Russell, and very close cousin Jennie Lou Talley. He also had many nieces and nephews including Tonya Ailor, Susan Hartsell, Terry and Ricky and Tracey Watts, Sherry Pressler, and Missy Bullen. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Homer and Edna Watts, brother Boyd, sister Bobbie and her husband William Templeton, infant sister Mary Lou, and father-in-law S.C. Black. Funeral Services will be held at Manes Funeral Home in Newport on Sunday the 13th at 2PM and officiated by Rev. Manson Lee with visitation from 12:00 pm-2:00pm before the services and burial following at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
