February 13, 1952 - February 19, 2014 Resided in South Knoxville, TN Gary Edward Knox, age 62, of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 after a brief illness. Before being confined to a wheelchair, Gary liked to hunt, fish, and work on cars. He continued to work on cars and remodeled his home from his wheelchair. Gary enjoyed going to Mule Day in Columbia, TN where he camped with his sister and her family. He had many friends there, he collected their "Mule Day" knives and we collected memories. He had numerous friends at Boyd's Creek Market, the Corner Market, and Gap Creek Market. He also had poker playing friends. Gary was of the Methodist faith, raised in Hendrons Chapel. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Knox of Spring City, and Helen Hawn Knox of Seymour, grandparents, Harold and Viola Green Hawn of Knoxville, Clarence and Ardith Godbehere Knox of Spring City. Gary was also preceded in death by his canine companions, Mollie, Rockie, and Bear. Surviving Gary are his sister Karen "Susie" Cowan and husband Grover, nieces and nephews, Cornelia Diane Williams and husband Mark, Rebecca Jane Cowan and friend Bryan, Tom Cowan and wife Stacie. Great nieces and nephews, Phillip Wayne Terry III and friend Trish, Brandy Helen Terry, Shelbie Lynn Cowan, and TJ Cowan. His faithful canine Foxie and German Shepherd Riker. Special thanks to Neuroscience Center, especially Dr. Truedell, Lamberts Home Medical Supplies, especially Yvonne, UT Home Health and UT Hospital, and Dr. Kenneth Reese and staff. Thanks for these special people doing a great job. Funeral Service 6PM Saturday in Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Rev. Bill Faulkner officiating. Interment 2PM Sunday in Hendron's Chapel Cemetery.
