Joseph Lester “Joe” Cunningham-age 89 of Maryville, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was retired from ALCOA and a member of the ALCOA 25 year club. Preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnne Woods Cunningham; son, Michael Cunningham; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Cunningham; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Gerry Sanders; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Connie Cunningham all of Maryville; step-children, Patti Johnson of Maryville, Holly and Mike White of Madisonville; grandchildren, Julie Elder and husband John, Jonathan Sanders, Whitney Mills and husband Will, Justin Cunningham and wife Dorothy, Heather Cunningham and Alec Cunningham; step-grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Jackie Johnson, Tyler Hartman, and Brad Hartman; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Revs. Brenda and Larry Carroll officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:00 AM Wednesday at Grandview Mausoleum for the entombment. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the church.
