KENNETH L. MANNING, age 68 of Ypsilanti, Michigan, formerly of Dandridge, TN passed away August 5, 2005. He lived in Ypsilanti, MI for over 6 years, coming from Willis, MI and before that Tennessee. He was a member of the Purple Heart, the VFW, the Belleville Moose Lodge # 934 and the Ypsilanti Eagles. He enjoyed watching and feeding birds, spoiling his grandchildren, and traveling to Tennessee to visit his family. He loved to cook and was known for his Bar-be-que at Carl's Restaurant in Ypsilanti, MI. Former owner and operator of Ken's Drive In of Claxton, TN. He also loved to shop! Preceded in death by his parents, John Ernest and Zelma Hightower Manning; sisters, Wilma Moore and Edna Tate. Survived by his second wife of 20 years, Geralding (Francis Mayfield) Manning; children, Wayne Manning, Tony (Carol) Manning of Morristown, Kenneth (Karen) Mayfield, Jr. of Pigeon Forge, Mike (Sue) Manning ofa Dandridge, Richard (Tammy) Mayfield of westland, MI, Roger (Sherri) Mayfield of Belleville, MI, Ronald Mayfield of Ypsilanti, MI and Heidi (Kevin) Bergeson of Belleville, MI; fourteen grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Theodore) McMahan of Knoxville, Carolyn Taylor of Kodak, and Mildred (Henry) Fox of Talbott; brothers, Lawrence Gordon Manning of Dandridge, John E. "Jack" (Wilma) Manning, Jr. of Kodak, Ray (Polly) Manning, Allen (Betty) Manning, both of Dandridge, Robert Manning of Belleville, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Rev. Doyle Wolfenbarger officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005 to proceed to Hills Union Cemetery for a 2 p.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
