He was a retired barber, working in Newport and Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Holt, parents Carl and Beulah Holt, brothers Joe Holt, Eugene Holt, Johnny Hill, and Jimmy Hill, and niece Sharon Martin. He is survived by nieces and nephews and their families: Karla (Jerry) Holt and Madison, and David (Marsha) Hill, all of Newport; Karen (Richard) Graves of Ft. Orange, Florida; and Danny, Randy, Sue, and Patrick Hill, all of Marietta, Georgia. Arrangements for a graveside service will appear in a later edition of The Newport Plain Talk.
