Rufus C. Black, born April 15, 1919, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away at his daughter’s home on February 18, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Brenda Hill and Janice Bockman, of New Castle, Delaware, and Jeanie Halter, of Odessa, Delaware; former wife, Naomi Black; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry S. Black.
Mr. Black served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Electric Hose & Rubber Co. in Wilmington, Delaware, and relocated back to Tennessee.
There he leaves to mourn his loss many loving nieces and nephews; with heartfelt gratitude to his devoted niece, Peggy Baxter.
Family will receive friends, Saturday February 24, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Services will follow at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Ransom Hall officiating, with interment immediately following at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
