Mr. Alvin (Beaver) Campbell, age 83, of Newport, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday October 26, 2011.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended Lowe's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Campbell was retired from Wood Products.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jake & Nina Campbell, sister and brother-in-law Margaret (Wilbur) Smith, brother-in-law Forrest Ball, sister-in-law Doris Campbell, and brother-in-law Jay Ball.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leona Campbell, of the home; daughters Linda (Dempsey) Fine of Cleveland, Ohio and Sue (Randy) Hartsell of Newport; granddaughters Michelle (Bob) Cooksey, Patti (Ronnie) Tiedjen, and Garharta (Greg) Fine, all of Cleveland, Ohio; Kristi (Chad) Watts and Randall and Joshua Hartsell, all of Newport; 10 great grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren; brothers Jimmy (Lessie) Campbell of Newport and Harold Campbell of Johnson City; sisters Inez Ball and Marie (J.C.) Hill, all of Newport. Additional survivors include many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, in Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jackie Caldwell officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens for the 2:00 p.m. interment service. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening prior to the service.
