Wayne Edward Lewis better known as “Louie” age 54 of Newport passed away on November 25, 2008 at University of Tennessee Medical center due to a previous motorcycle wreck in Greenville. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Lewis. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Charlotte and Newell Valentine, his son Jason Lewis and wife Shelly, daughter and son-in-law Marcie and Chad Fox, grand-daughter Tiffany Lewis, ex wife Bernice McMahan, special aunts Eleanor Jenkins and Annah Webb. Many special friends, including Danny and Lisa Chapman, his best buddy Clementine. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 29,2008 from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will follow at 8 pm at the Manes Funeral Chapel with Bill Shelton officiating. Manes Funeral Home in charge.

Cocke County man dies from injuries received in accident

A Cocke County man has died following a Nov. 2 traffic accident in Greeneville.
Wayne Edward Lewis, 54, of Newport, died Tuesday at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
According to records from the Greeneville Police Department, Lewis was injured around 3:50 p.m. on Nov. 2 in a two-vehicle accident on the Asheville Highway in Greeneville (in front of the Food City shopping center).
Reportedly, Lewis' Yamaha motorcycle collided with a Chevy pickup truck driven Timothy Thomas of Greeneville.
According to Greene County EMS officials, Lewis initially refused medical transport following the accident. Lewis was later taken to UT Medical Center. Thomas was uninjured in the accident.
Greeneville Police Department is conducting a follow-up investigation into the accident, according to EMS officials.
A memorial service for Lewis is scheduled 8 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 27, in Manes Funeral Home in Newport.
