Services: Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Smith West Chapel with Dr. Dale Ellenberg and Dr. Charles W. Sullivan officiating.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 in Smith West Chapel.
Lenward “Clay” Bolinger age 76, born on March 8, 1933, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2010. Clay was a Veteran of the United States Army and served as a MP from 1953 – 1955. He was a devout member of Dotson Memorial Church for 29 years. Clay owned Bolinger Landscaping for 30 years and he retired from the Tennessee Press in 1995 after 33 years of service. He was also a long time member of the Civitans of Blount County. Clay was most known for his stained glass art which was a great passion of his and was enjoyed by many. He participated in numerous arts & Crafts shows in the area and was a member of the Craft Guild of Blount County. Clay was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with friends and loved ones. He will be missed and cherished by many. Preceded in death by his daughter, Barclay Susan Bolinger; brothers, J.C. Kelly, Rex Bolinger and Ray Bolinger; sister, Violet Ledbetter; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Ruby & Gene Sing. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sue Watkins Bolinger; loving daughter, Vickie Davis and Lew Ensor; granddaughter, Kelsey Davis and Chase Abbott; grandson and wife, Bo and April Davis; great grandchildren, Buck, Kayla and Anthony Davis; granddaughter, Ashley Krogulski; brother and sister-in-law, James and Marion Bolinger; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and David Staley and Faye and John Lins; sisters-in-law, Charlene Bolinger , Imogene Bolinger, and Mary Dial. Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Smith West Chapel with Dr. Dale Ellenberg and Dr. Charles W. Sullivan officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Ballard’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment. Memorial donations may be made to Dotson Memorial Baptist Church, 814 Dotson Memorial Road, Maryville, TN 37801 in memory of Clay Bolinger. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 in the West Chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
