COGDILL, WILLIAM LEROY - age 85 of Knoxville went home to his Father in Heaven on Friday, May 25, 2013. Bill was born on May 18th, 1928 to the late William A. and Zylphia Cogdill. W.L. "Bill" was joined in marriage to his wife of sixty years, the late Maxine Cogdill on July 1, 1949. They then moved to Kingsport in 1950 where they raised their two children Breck and Billie. They returned to Knoxville in 1993 where they became members of the Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. Bill spent his career in the Automotive Supply business and was the EVP and general manager of Wheels and Brakes when he retired. He was active in the Lions Club and a supporter of the Alzheimer's Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and wife. Bill is survived by a son and daughter in law, Breck and Tania Cogdill of Charlotte, NC; daughter and son in law Billie and Richard Bright of St. Louis, MO. Bill is deeply loved by his grandchildren, Whitney Bright (Krister) Ungerboeck of St. Louis, MO, Aaron (Rachel) Bright of Cincinnati, OH, Christopher Cogdill of San Diego, CA and Alexandra Cogdill of Charlotte, NC. His grandchildren have given him four great grandchildren, Ada and Hagan Bright of Cincinnati,OH, and Morgan and Xander Ungerboeck of St. Louis, MO. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church on Wednesday May 29th at 11:00 AM with Reverend Clay Harrington officiating with receiving of friends, prior from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Highland West Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Bill's honor to: Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, Missions Fund-Ethiopia Project, 9132 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37923.
