Corn does grow exceedingly tall. You recall I had driven several times to Green Corner and passed Ed Black's market where he is building some sort of outdoor ATM or reinforced vault. While stopping for a cold drink, I chatted with the workers and also saw Carroll Moore, who works for Newport Utilities. He shared photos, which at first I thought were created on computer to look real but were fakes. Carroll confirmed that some of the corn in the photos was indeed about 22-feet tall. The photos are old news from 2009 and I haven't called to see how the 2010 crop did. It was Hickory Cane variety grown on the Ray Stokely farm at Dry Fork. If you didn't already know, Susie, Carroll's wife, is the daughter of former sheriff D.C. Ramsey and Wilma Ramsey.
