ARGENTA - Clara Lenora Mathes, 79, of Argenta, IL passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 5, 2007) in her residence.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 8, 2007) in Argenta Baptist Church with visitation one hour before services. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. Burial was in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta. Clara was born on July 9, 1927 in Geff, IL the daughter of Roy and Sarah Auvil Cissna. She retired from Heinkel's Packing Co., Decatur, IL. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens, going to the Amish countryside in Arthur, IL and buying her grandsons and great grandsons their first pair of bib overalls. She married Wayne Mathes on January 2, 1946. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1995.
She is survived by her daughter Janet Mathes and son Thomas Mathes; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Charles Cissna and Glenn Cissna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 brothers Leslie Cissna, Evans Cissna, Joe Cissna, Harold Cissna and George Cissna.
Thank you Lord, for my mother. She is truly a gem of immeasurable worth.
