Black Mountain -- Parlee Wright Ledbetter, formerly of the Broad River community, passed from the arms of her earthly family into the arms of Jesus and her Heavenly family on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, after a brief illness. Although she will be greatly missed by her family and friends, we all take comfort and peace, knowing we will be reunited with her again. Parlee was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Buncombe County to the late Elijah and Annie Wright. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Clyde J.C. Ledbetter; daughter, Margaret Shelton; and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived her son, Larry K. Ledbetter, and his wife, Gaye; grandchildren, Lisa Ledbetter, Mark Ledbetter and wife, Deb, Donna Dotson and husband, Eddie, Diane Rice and Debbie Skipper; several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and her dearest and closest friend, Charles Clark. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Broad River Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Joe George officiating. Burial will be at Ledbetter Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the church. Flowers are accepted and appreciated. Those desiring to make a memorial may consider Four Seasons Hospice, P.O. Box 2395, Hendersonville, NC 28793, in memory of Parlee Wright Ledbetter. Harwood Home for Funerals, 208 W. State St., Black Mountain, is assisting the family.
