Ogle, B. C. – age 83, of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ogle was a life-long member of Marble City Baptist Church and the Homemakers’ Sunday School class, where he had served as trustee and deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Bales Ogle; parents, George B. Ogle and Dora Garrett Ogle; and brothers, Ernest, Lewis, Omer, and Howard. Mr. Ogle served on board the U.S. Navy destroyer USS John Hood during WWII, participating in combat action in the Pacific and the Sea of Japan, including being part of the Japan occupying force at war’s end. Mr. Ogle worked for Baker’s Shoe Store for 40 years on Gay Street and then West Town Mall where he provided excellent customer service. The family would like to thank the staffs of Fort Sanders’ Nephrology Unit, Oncology Unit, Fresenius Dialysis Center, East Tennessee Nephrology, Thompson Cancer, and Atria Weston Place Assisted Living Facility for their care and concern.
Survivors
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Eric Sliger of Kingston, TN; grandson and wife, Ryan and Becky Bean, Sumter, SC; step-granddaughters, Kim Lane, Charleston, SC; Kelly Mays, Summerville, SC; step-great grandsons, Wallace and Eric Mays; brothers, Henry and Harold of Knoxville, and Elmer of SC; sisters-in-law Jewel Davis of Knoxville, June Seaton of Taylorsville, NC, and Ann Marquette of Jackson, MS; special friend, Martha Seay; and several nieces and nephews.
Service
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon-2:00 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM., with Rev. W. C. Thornton and Rev. George Williams officiating. Graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. A guestbook and additional information are available at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
