Mrs. Alice Faye Hill , age 71 of Newport , went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday , May 3 , 2015 . She attended First United Methodist Church of Newport and was a member of First Christian Church. During her lifetime she had been a waitress at various restaurants and had worked at Brock's Market on Hwy. 25/70 and Cosby Hwy. She was also a receptionist for A. M. Mullen, DDS. She was preceded in death by her husband J. D. Hill , parents Mamie and Warren Gilland, and infant brothers Evonne, Joe Ike, and Maurice. She is survived by her children Kathy Amador, Deborah Lovell, and Sharon Withers, grandchildren Samuel Hill , Kyle Lovell, Sarah Preslar, Samantha Amador, Dustin Cameron, and Michaela Withers, all of Newport ; great-grandchildren: Kendra Hill , Alexis Hill , Chloe Hill , Elijah Hill , Triston Lovell, Hunter Ellison, Tynlee Cameron, Tyler Shepherd, Maylyn Preslar, and Drayton Withers; brother Terry Gilland; sisters Irene Gilland, Sue Jones, Shelby Pierson, and Mary 'Cookie' Alexander; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was loved by many and had a host of friends and several special friends, including Bill and Beverly Chambers, Jan Fancher, and Dolly Harville. The funeral service was held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 , at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. James Bennington and Rev. Bill Murr officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 , at Union Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. interment. The family received friends Wednesday evening from 6:00—8:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church prior to the services. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy [S58] Marriage Certificate.
