James T. “Jim” Boring, age 66 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday January 12, 2011, at the family home. Jim was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jim was an avid reader and had many interest and hobbies. He served 23 years in the 134th Air National Guard, while in the guards he traveled to several other states and foreign countries. He worked at Maryville Builders Supplies for over 40 years. Preceding Jim in death are his parents, Lonnie and Florence Crisp Boring; brothers, Walter Lee, Charles Thomas, and Clyde Andrew Boring; and sister, Evelyn Boring Snavely. Survived by brothers, Herman and George C. Boring of Maryville and Bill Boring of Dalton, GA; sisters, Pearl (Bob) Hampton of Greenback, Polly (Roy) Wilson of Maryville, Irene (Howard) Fox of Sevierville, Ann (Jack) Wilson of Maryville, and Dean Cooper of Maryville; sister-in-law, Mary Martha Boring; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; Jim’s family at Maryville Building Supply; and the Harold Hord family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Blount Memorial Hospice, 1095 East Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Maryville, TN 37804, or the American Cancer Society, 871 N. Weisgarber Rd., Knoxville, TN 37909, in Jim’s memory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Cedar Chapel. Graveside service and interment will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 15, 2011, at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 2633 Six Mile Rd., Maryville, TN.
