Mrs. Helen Louise Mason, age 88 of Newport entered into everlasting life on Friday, November 16, 2007 at Newport Health and Rehabilitation. She was a devoted member of Salem Lutheran Church, and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Quilters. Death has reunited her with her husband, Cletys Mason; infant daughter, Velma Ailene Mason; granddaughter, Gina Mason; parents, Sid and Vertie Ellenburg; sister, Mary Ellenburg; brother, Paul Ellenburg; and brother-in-law, Frank Sauls. She leaves to remember a most devoted mother, five children, including sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Teresa Mason, Dwayne and Carol Mason all of Parrottsville, Terry and Vickie Mason of Newport; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Donnie Jackson of Greeneville, and Starlene and Mike Sweeten of Newport; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, April and Jason Green of Greeneville and Nicole and Jason Strange of Del Rio; granddaughters, Kristy Sweeten and Kari Padgett of Newport; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Anthony and Julie Mason of Parrottsville, Sid and Melody Mason of Edgewood, Maryland, Brian and Pam Mason of California; grandsons, Rodney Mason of Atlanta, GA, Chris Black of Parrottsville, Jonathan Sweeten of Newport, Justin Jackson of Greeneville and Will Padgett of Newport; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Tyler, and Hayden Green of Greeneville, Alex and James Mason of California, Patrick Mason of Hot Springs, NC, Dylan and Levi Strange of Del Rio, Hunter Mason of Edgewood, Maryland, and Kayra Sweeten of Newport; sisters, Blanch Sauls of Greeneville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Ollie Ellenburg of Cartersville, GA, J.D. and Norma Ellenburg of Homestead, FL, and Marcus and Annette Ellenburg of Mosheim; additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, and friends, including special niece and nephew, Paul and Emma Dean James of Newport, and her special friends, the Senior Citizens Quilters. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Sterling Nelson and Pastor Matthew Hunter officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evening November 19, 2007 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Salem Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
