Powells’ 55th
Marshall and Velda (Flynn) Powell, of Walland, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Powell home, where their reception was held after their wedding.
They request no gifts.
The couple were married Sept. 1, 1956, at Miller’s Cove Missionary Baptist Church. Sidney Staley Sr. officiated.
Their family includes children David and Sandy Powell, of Tustin, Calif., and Amy and Brad Higdon, of Walland. They have six grandchildren, Matt and Andrea Powell, of Brookhaven, Miss., Kathryn and Joseph Lenn, of Maryville, Emily Powell, of Walland, Maggie and Jacob Higdon, of Walland, and the late Noah Higdon. They have two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Addelyn Kate Powell.
Mr. Powell is retired from ALCOA Inc. Mrs. Powell is retired from Blount Memorial Hospital, where she was a registered nurse.
Mr. and Mrs. Powell are members of Miller’s Cove Missionary Baptist Church. They enjoy spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and following all their activities.
