Bertha Mae Hall Fine, 85, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Silver Bluff Nursing Center in Canton after a period of declining health. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Evion Oscar and Iva Lee Cole Hall. She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Fine of the home; son, Robert Harold Fine of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Janice Fine Andrews of Goodrich, Mich.; brother, Brownlow Hall; sisters, Minnie Childers, Bonnie Hollifield, Zena Love and Gladys Ford; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home, Sylva, with the Rev. Keith Clark officiating. Interment will be at Swain Memorial Park in Bryson City.
