Stokely, age 90, of Del Rio, passed away, Monday, May 31, 2010. He was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a staunch Democrat all his life and also a Tennessee Volunteer Football and Basketball fan. He was preceded in death by his wife Essie F. Stokely; father and mother, Hubert S. Stokely and Hattie M. Smart and Stepfather, Jehu Smart; brothers, Thomas J., George Estel, Len and Bern; sisters, Nelle White and Burdell Lindsey.. He is survived by his sons, Stephen V. Stokely and wife Dianne, Thomas H. Stokely and wife Barbara; daughter, Laura S. Williford and husband Dan; granddaughters, Amy W. France and husband, Travis, Melina S. Strange and husband Tim, Lori Thornton, and Cricket Vauthier; great-grandsons, Dereck and Zachary France, Jackson and Wyatt Vauthier, Aidan and Christopher Thornton; sisters-in-law, Connie Stokely, Lois Moore and Dean Smith; also other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Charlie Williams officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in Stokely Cemetery, Del Rio. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral.
