William Elmer Burchfield Sr., age 88, of Walland, died Saturday, June 21, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Friendly Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Rollins Burchfield; daughters, Wanda Burchfield Whitehead, Sandra Kay Burchfield; sons, Ralph Lamar Burchfield, Jackie Burchfield; nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son, William Elmer Burchfield Jr., of Cherokee, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Becky Burchfield of Walland; son, David O. Burchfield of Sevierville; daughter, Sara Eads of Walland; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Joseph King of Sevierville; special grandsons, Roger (Buffy) Burchfield, and Shaun Burchfield; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Friendly Hill Baptist Church in Townsend, with the Rev. Fate Green officiating.
