HARRIS, ONIE SMITH - age 89, formerly of Knoxville, widow of William N. Harris, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Onie, who was the last surviving member of her immediate family, was born in Benton, Tennessee in 1920, the daughter of the late John Oliver and Crettie Woods Smith. She retired from the State of Tennessee and moved to South Carolina to live with her daughter in 2004. Onie was predeceased by daughters, Charlotte Harris, Lois Thornton, and Shelby Jean Ramsey; sons-in-law, Jimmy Thornton, Donald Bentley, Meredith Ramsey, and James Dawson; brothers, Frank Smith, Rosco Smith, and Robert Smith; sisters, Stella Mynatt, Ellie Miller, Ethel Harris, Nola Shultz, and Lucille Barnhill; grandson, Tommy Thornton; and great-granddaughter, Kristina Kamphouse. She is survived by daughters, Wilma Dawson, with whom she made her home in Piedmont, South Carolina, Barbara Daniels and her husband, the Rev. Johnny Daniels, of Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Becky Bentley of Austell, Georgia; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with interment following at Highland Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 P.M.
