ROBINS, EDWARD DAVID (ZAMBONI ED) - age 82, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2007. He was a member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church. He was a World War II veteran of the Canadian Army and became a U.S. citizen in 1976. Ed was a professional hockey referee and a member of South Knoxville Masonic Lodge #769. He was in the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame. Ed refereed college and professional hockey for 31 years. He also enjoyed officiating for the Knoxville youth hockey program for many years. He was a member and past commander of the Legion of Honors; Kerbela Temple; and was a van driver for the Shriner's Children Hospital for many years which he dearly loved. Preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Mable Robins; infant son, Ronald Edward David Robins; brothers, Dick and George Robins; sister, Mary Jean Robins. Survived by wife of 35 years, Clara Ford Robins; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Frank Ulcar of Knoxville, Sharon and Larry James; daughter, Patricia Lecorre of Canada; grandchildren, Suzanne Brown, Darrell Lecorre and Jeff James of Canada; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Beach and Shirley Lecorre of Canada; Lillian Baba of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM, with Rev. Don Grady officiating. Family and friends will meet at New Prospect Presbyterian Cemetery on Monday for 1:00 PM interment services. Pallbearers will be Gary Loe, Mike Murray, David McGill, David Weatherford, Harold Ward, Larry LaBorde and Danny Slagle. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Shriner's Legion of Honor.
