He was a member and deacon of Pollard Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by a devoted and loving wife of 73 years, Lizzie Hayes ; daughters and sons in law, Louise and Henry Kirby, Pat and Don Cameron, Jan and Bill Humphries; son and daughter in law, Charles and Delores Hayes and son, Harold "Shot" and wife, Sarah, deceased; one brother, Glen Hayes ; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Special thanks is extended to loving caregiver, Linda. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday May 27 with funeral services to follow with Rev. Jim Dockins officiating. Interment will be at Pollard Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by McCarty Mortuary, 4004 Holston Dr. Knoxville, Tenn.
