- [S142] Newspaper Article, Ruidoso News (NM), 23 May 2015.
Eleanor Jane Johnston , 77 , of Ruidoso passed away May 21, 2015.
Jane was raised in Newport, Tennessee as part of a large, hard-working farm family. She proudly served in the Navy and worked in the medical field for most of her career. She married and raised a family in California before retiring to Ruidoso .
A witty and colorful character, Jane delighted everyone she met with her Southern charm and sincerity. She often said that she was programmed with a chip that made her want to bring a smile to everyone's face. She succeeded.
To all of the wonderful people of Ruidoso who touched Jane 's life, your kindness was truly appreciated, and she loved each and every one of you.
She is survived by her daughter Joy Johnston and her daughter-in-law Jenna Stregowski of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister Wilma Jean Kyker Drinnon of Newport, TN, and beloved nieces and nephews in Tennessee and Ohio.
Her husband, Patrick Joseph Johnston , preceded her in death in 2011 after 40 years of marriage.
To honor Jane 's memory, please make a donation to the Lincoln County Humane Society or to The Nest.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lagroneruidoso.com.
