2 dead, 2 more shot in Bean Staiton robbery: Two victims have Cocke County connections

NEWPORT-Alexia "Lexi" Gail Wilson, 45, is being touted as a hero that stopped further killing of people in a Bean Station pharmacy robbery and shooting on Thursday, May 23, District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn said on Friday.
Wilson and Janet Collen Cliff, 46, of Rutledge, were injured in the shooting.
Stephen Lovell, of Morristown, and pharmacy customer Richard Alexander Sommerville, 35, were shot and killed.
Wilson is the daughter of Ruth Wilson, owner of Wilson Sav-Mor Pharmacy on East Main Street in downtown Newport, and worked in that drugstore in the 1990's and on other occasions since then, according to employees of the drugstore.
"It's a horrible thing to have happened," said Dunn, who watched "over and over" the surveillance video of suspect Jason Bryan Holt, 37, forcing all four people in the drugstore at the time to line up on the floor, and then shot them.
Holt allegedly shot and killed Lovell, the owner of the Down Home Pharmacy on Main Street in Bean Station and customer Sommerville at 11:15 a.m.
Lovell, like Wilson, has Cocke County connections.
Lovell is the son of Don “Babe” and Ruth Lovell of Morristown. Don Lovell is a Cocke County native, and son of the late Dwight Lovell and Tivis Lovell Sweeten of Newport.
Stephen Lovell, the youngest of three children, was married and the father of three children: two boys and one girl.
Holt, a former Bean Station police of? cer, lived near the pharmacy and was apprehended “within minutes” after allegedly shooting and killing Lovell and Sommerville, as well as shooting and injuring two employees, including Lexi Wilson, according to Dunn.
Of? cers with the Bean Station and Rutledge police departments were “right there on the scene within minutes” of the shooting, Dunn stated. “They apprehended (Holt, who was a short distance from the drugstore) within minutes, recovered the gun and medication that Holt stole. Dunn said both a large number of oxycodone pills and a six-shot revolver handgun were recovered.
Dunn said that Holt entered the drugstore, which he had been in multiple times previously as a customer, asked for drugs, was given a large quantity of oxycodone pills, then started shooting.
“He had them lined up on the ? oor. (Lexi Wilson) got up ... and jumped in his face, which saved her life and the life of another lady,” fellow employee Cliff, according to Dunn.
Lexi Wilson’s life-saving action resulted in her being shot in the face and neck, Dunn said. Fortunately for Wilson, she is “doing ? ne” at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she was transported following the shooting. Although Wilson had bandages on when Dunn saw her, she was able to talk, he said.
“It’s horrible,” Dunn repeated of the incident. He added, “I don’t have any reasoning for what happened. There was no reason to shoot those people.”
Holt has been charged with two counts of premeditated ? rst-degree murder, two counts of felony murder, one count of especially aggravated robbery, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Dunn said Holt would remain in custody until at least Thursday, May 30, when his arraignment on the charges will be held. Dunn said he would ask then that Holt be held without bond.
Lovell and Sommerville died at the scene of the shooting.
Lexi Wilson and her co-employee, Cliff, were ? own by helicopter to UTMC. They were listed in stable condition Thursday evening.
