Mrs. Ota Barnes Phillips, age 85, of Cosby, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2001.
She was the former owner and operator of Phillips Grocery in Cosby.
She was a member of Little Pigeon Primative Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Phillips, and son, Jack Phillips.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Ruth Phillips, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Patricia Phillips, of Seymour; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Eddie Surber, of Cosby; grandchildren, Dexter Phillips, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jackie DePew, of Edwina, Tammy Spurgeon, of Bogard, Jason Phillips, of Knoxville, Cindy Phillips of Seymour, and Stephanie Surber, of Cosby; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at Garvers Chapel Church, with Rev. Gary Henderson and Rev. Danny Green officiating. Interment will be in Phillips Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday evening, January 29, 2001, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
Costner-Maloy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
