E. Dale Bradshaw, 77, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 surrounded by family at his beloved Emert's Cove cabin on the river in Pittman Center.
Dale was born October 27, 1936 in Tremont in the Great Smoky Mountains. His family moved to Townsend after the Park was formed where he attended High School then later went to Maryville College. Dale started working in the tourist industry in the 1960's. He managed various motels in Gatlinburg and worked as a tour guide in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park for many years. In 1984, Dale became the Sevier County Maintenance Supervisor and held this position until the time of his death. Dale was always ready with a joke and a story and was beloved by many around Sevier County. Dale enjoyed fishing, spending time with his friends and family and living life to the fullest. Dale was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg, as well as, being a member of the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Loura Bradshaw; brothers, Glen Bradshaw, John Bill Bradshaw, C.H. Bradshaw and Danny Bradshaw; sisters, Georgia Bradshaw, Wilma Brooks, Jerry Stroh, Jenny Abbott and Louise Webb.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann Waters Bradshaw; sons, Larry (Terri) Waters, Mark (Debbie) Bradshaw and Terry Kevin (Vickie) Bradshaw; daughter, Sonja (Jerry) Marion; grandchildren, David Waters, Adrienne Waters Ogle, Austen Bradshaw, Daniel Bradshaw, Tucker Bradshaw and Breanna Bradshaw; great-grandchildren, Amelia Ogle, Dailynn Bradshaw, Charlotte Ogle and Brenton Carr; and sister, Dawn (J.P.) Byrd. A special thanks to all his co-workers in the Sevier County Government, special care giver, Joan Ownby and Covenant Health Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg, 111 Oglewood Lane, Gatlinburg or the Sevier County Food Ministry, PO Box 6042 Sevierville, TN 37864.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg with Dr. Marvin Cameron and Rev. Larry Burcham officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Cemetery in Townsend, TN. Procession will leave Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville at 10 a.m. Thursday. Pallbearers are: Terry Byrd, Derrick Grooms, David Waters, Austen Bradshaw, Daniel Bradshaw, Tucker Bradshaw, Bart Ogle, Lane Carr and Jimmy Waters.
